Transportation In Kuala Lumpur

The public transport system in Kuala Lumpur is quite fast and cheap too. Various of transport modes such as bus, taxi, trains etc are easily available. Currently only 16% of the public are using the public transportation in Kuala Lumpur. The low usage of public transport is that the network of trains does not cover the whole of Kuala Lumpur, thus the people living out of the city use their own vehicle.

Kuala Lumpur’s rail-based transport system consists of two Light Rail Transit lines (rapid transit), one monorail line, two commuter rail systems consisting four lines, and an airport rail link. The monorails here are quite cheap, clean and fast. The traveling time is punctual as it has its own routes and no problem is created due the huge traffic jams. The Operation time of light rail is from 6am to 11:45pm. Train interval is 3-5 minutes during peak hours and 5-8 minutes during non peak hours.

The Kuala Lumpur public transport includes the monorail which covers a distance of 8.6 km with 11 halts in the citykuala lumpur monorail system centre. Major shopping centres such as Bukit Bintang, Imbi and Chow Kit are serviced by the monorail. It stretches from Kuala Lumpur Central Station to Titiwangsa Station. The operation time of mono rail is from 6:00am to 12:00 midnight daily with an interval of 5 minutes during peak hours and a maximum of 10 minutes during non peak hours.

Number of buses serves the city of Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding. All the buses are air conditioned. You can also enjoy an unlimited day ride on 15 routes across the city of Kuala Lumpur on Rapid KL bus for a reasonable price. To have a detailed guided tour across the city of Kuala Lumpur try the KL Hop On- Hop Off bus where you can where you can hop on and hop off the buses unlimited times for a duration of 24 hours and listen to the guided tour of the city. The charges of these buses are quite economical. The bus travel is quite safe.

The taxi service is available 24 hours a day. Advance booking of the taxis across the phone is also possible. This could prove useful during the long rush hours. During the regular thunderstorm hailing a taxi is nearly impossible. Metered taxis as well as prepaid taxis are easily available throughout the city.

Kuala Lumpur is not that safe city that you would travel around on two wheels. A lot of road accidents which involves bicycles, scooters and motorcycles are very common. According to Malaysia’s official tourism line the two-wheeled transport is not generally available on hire.
