Being in the city will give you a chance to visit many delightful places. Along with many cafes, restaurants, parks, the city also contains breath-taking historical places. The city is playing a crucial part in providing cultural offerings to South America with the presence of national monuments, art alleries, museums, library networks, sports and attraction parks, stage theatres.

Plaza de BolivarThe most popularly visited places are:

Plaza de Bolivar

Located in the centre of the historic part of the city, it is regarded as Principal Square of the city. It also contains a statue of Simon Bolivar and all the important buildings right from governmental to political are visible from the square.

La Candelaria

Located around the Plaza de Bolivar, it is also counted as one of the important historic centers. Known for greatLa Candelaria architecture, the area was declared a National Monument in 1964. The area witnessed beginning of the building construction in the 16th century and from those buildings some are brought back to their former magnificence. However, some buildings are still waiting to get reconstructed. The present La Candelaria is mixture of several old districts.

El Museo del Oro

One of the prominent gold museums of the world, its 34,000 gold pieces reminds us the pre-Hispanic cultures of Colambia. Here you can see creativity from pre-Columbian era through the collection of gold and emerald jewelry and artifacts kept in the venue.

Cerro de MonserrateCerro de Monserrate

The place is rushed by pilgrims and tourists mainly on Sundays as the place contains a church alongwith statue of Senor Caido.  The original construction of chapel was affected in the 1917 earthquake and so the present church was established. The visitors not have to worry about their food as the premises also contain many food stalls that contain many types of pastries, all types of pork and chicken.

Church of Santa Clara

One of the most graceful colonial churches of the city, it was constructed between 1629. It gives a firm spiritual feeling as the entire building is coated with statues and paintings of renowned saints. Church of Santa Clara

Museo de Arte del Banco de la Republica

It is located near Museo Botero and it possesses the bank’s art collection.

Museo de Arte Moderno – MAMBO

The museum was built in the year 1955 and presently, it is garnished with art works of renowned artists like Grau, Villamizar, Botero, Manzur, Ana Mercedes Hoyos, among others.

The Panaca Park

While roaming in the park you can also learn farming techniques and participate in the activities organized in the park. The park contains more than 2000 animals.

Simon Bolivar Metropolitan ParkSimon Bolivar Metropolitan Park

It is formed by a group of parks and sport complexes and is located in the western area.

Other parks are

El Prado Park, Chicó Park, La Soledad Park, San Rafael Park, Mundo Aventura Amusement Park, Renacimiento Park, among others. Along with this, it has become one of the major convention destinations with primier convention centers like Jiménez de Quesada, Centro Ferial de Convenciones, Eventos Cafam, etc.Even after going to all these places, the time is in your favor than don’t forget to take a look at salt mines of Zipaquirá and a place namely Monserrate, where the entire city will be right in from of your eyes.
