The city is looking lively due to presence of many wide sandy beaches. During summer, beaches become the most wannabe destination for locals. However, several other destinations are also present here.
Corcovado (Hunchback)
The Mountain holds Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue, one of the greatest landmarks of the city. You can also take glimpses of the city’s best views from the spot. The statue’s height is 38 meter and it stands on the 710 meters of the Corcovado Hill.
The statue came into existence in the year 1931 and now the escalators and elevators are available hence; there is no need to be there by climbing so many staircases.
Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf)
One of the signposts of the city, the 394m (1,293ft) granite rock that was initially known as Pau-nh-Açquá, but now named as Pão de Açúcar. Rock climbers’ favorite spot, wherein you can take glimpses of the city Mountains, beaches, and National park among others. Here you can reach by two cable cars that came into existence in the year 1912.
Copacabana
It is one of the biggest suburbs of Rio is highly admired by locals as well as tourists as it locates number of breath-taking beaches.
Ipanema
Located in a close proximity to the city, it also contains many beaches, and a famous for its sun set watch. The Girl from Ipanema, the sensational song, has made the locality popular in all over the world. You can be here also for shopping.
Centro (Centre)
Here you will be able to meet with culture of the city as it contains Museu Histórico Nacional, Paço Imperial, the Mosteiro de São Bento- UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, among others.
Complexo Esportivo do Maracanã
Paradise for sports lovers, and hub of Brazilian football game. Maracanã Sporting Complex is one of the renowned and largest stadiums of world. If you want to enjoy matches, you can head towards the stadium as it holds sports games for atleast three days a week.
