The  city of Pune gets ready every year for one of the popular  music festivals – the Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsava. Initiated by the noted Hindustani singer Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, this festival was held first in reverence of the great guru Sawai Gandharva. Rambhau Kundgolkar or Sawai Gandharva was a great vocalist and exponent of the Hindustani Music. All the musicians and the practicing artists across the world come here and pay respects to this great musician and render their works here in this get together. The disciples of Sawai Gandharva with the help of the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal organize this festival which goes on for three days. There are dancers, vocalists, musicians from across India and the world and they come together in this harmonious ambience of art and talent.
