Lebanon

Lebanon is a country situated in Western Asia off the shore of the Mediterranean Ocean. Lebanon is considered to be the finest countries in the Middle East.

There are many places to visit in Lebanon which are a great tourist destination. Tourists from all over the world come to visit Lebanon.

Baalbek is situated 85 km away from Beirut. It houses some of the most amazing classical ruins in Lebanon and also the most important site of the Romans since the 1st century. The place is known for its truly remarkable Temple of Bacchus.

Beirut, is another city which is known for the remains of the damages from the war in Lebanon. Along the Mediterranean coast, this place is simply amazing with its antiques. In the downtown, you can get to see the historical attractions like the Grand Serail, Municipality Building, Al- Omari Mosque, St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the St. George’s Maronite Cathedral. A not to miss is the nightlife of Beirut, it is simply amazing with the belly dancers shaking their hips!

Beit Ed Dine is a place where you can get to see the Ottoman Palace. This palace was built during the 19th century on “a rock dominating a steep valley”. Daily day trips to the palace is a popular activity among the tourists.

Byblos or Jbayl is a place where the first Phoenician letters were developed and you can get to visit the ancient port. The ruins of the Crusader castles, of the persian castles, the Greek Amorite temples, the Roman theatre and the necropolis which contains the the tomb of King Hiram and the Romanesque church of John the Baptist are some of the other places that you can visit.

The Cedars is a resort in Lebanon which is extremely beautiful. It is also a popular tourist place for skiing during winters.

Jeita Grotto is a place which is situated in the valley of the Dog River around 18km north of Beirut. The caves of Jeita Jeita GrottoGrotto are a unique feature of the Middle East. There are two limestone caves and in the lower cave you can find boat to sail you to the subterranean lake. The year witnesses stable atmosphere between 16 degree to 22 degree celcius and the summers are pretty cool.

Sidon or Saida is on South of Beirut which is located on the coastal side. This place had been founded by the Phoenicians in around 4000 BC. The interesting places to visit here is the Crusader Sea Castle which is located on a small island, the Great Mosque and the Castle of St. Louis. Towards the north of Sidon is located the Temple of Eshmoun which is ranked as one of the best Phoenician sites in Lebanon.

Tripoli or Trablus is situated in the north of the Mediterranean Sea. This is the largest city in Lebanon and is a main tourist destination. The important tourist attractions in this place are the 12th century citadel, the Grand Mosque, the old town mosques, madrassahs (theological schools), bathhouses and the Khans.

Lebanon is a very interesting country and is worth a visit.
