Introducing Lima

One of the largest cities of Peru, Lima’s architecture is mix-match of many styles due to variations that took place in its history. Cultural as well as economic hub of Peru, the city is satiated with great history and excellent culture. It is located in the midst of the foothills of the Andes and the Pacific Ocean. A doorway to sensational sights like Lake Titicaca, Amazon jungle and last but not the least Machu Picchu, it becomes the must visit spot for the tourists to Peru. With this, Lima has become one of the renowned tourism industries in the world.

The city founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro, a Spanish Conquistador, and its culture is inspired from Andean, Asian and European.  In 1988, the Historic Center of Lima was pronounced as the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city possesses great historical background and the existence of Spanish colonial mansions and availability of several Inca ruins is verifying the fact. As far as architecture is concerned, the great museums and incredible churches, among others will give you a best reason to be in the city. Approximately, one third inhabitants of Peru reside in Lima and till the 19th century it was regarded as capital of South America. However, increasing shanty towns surrounding the city remains one of the harsh realities.

The city is more of a traditional than modern and it moves in a relatively restful speed than any other South American Metropolis. The Limeños, local residents of the city head towards bars and clubs to free from the day-long exhaustion. The locals enjoy their weekends along the beaches as the city has many of them and the vicinity has many clubs, hotels and restaurants. Local cuisines are regarded as one of the fine cuisines worldwide and it contains numerous dignified museums.

Renowned museums of the city still conserve ancient Peru in its premises. For shopping the locals head towards the city’s open markets and restaurants also witness presence of many numbers of residents for dinner. Lima’s delightful sights lure the thousands of visitors towards itself every year. The rainfall is relatively low and the mild climate of the city is a favorable to the tourists and summer is the best season to visit Jorge Chavez International Airport is one of the biggest airports of the city.
