This is one kind of a unique  event and make sure you don’t miss it. The Goa Sand Art festival is normally held for three days and is held at the Miramar beach here.

The main aim of the Sand Art Festival is to make the awareness of a social issue a way of life and to help artists depict it with their creativity and talent. Started in the year 2009, the Goa Sand Art festival is in its third year of celebration. This year it is even more special because the world famous Simon Smith is going to take part in it. He came to know about this festival for the first time last year and expressed his interest to attend it and is going to showcase his talent this year.

Many other artists are also going to come from all parts of India and exhibit their creativity. There are workshops going to be held for those who want to know how to work with sand and create magic. You could learn sculpting, drawing, write a message or you could just play with sand at the pit that is specially made for this. There is no competition and there is no commercialization. This is purely nature giving back to us what it wants us to do.

The  artists  will start working from December 10 onwards and the actual festival begins on December 16. The entry is free and all are welcome to take part. This is a very eco friendly art and is the best way we could ensure that the awareness of social causes spreads in society.

Each year there is a new theme. This year too, there is a theme. It is the marine life that is going to be depicted. In the Goa Sand Art Festival of 2010, the wildlife was the theme and in the year 2009, the theme was Global Warming. People still remember the year 2009 because of a sculpture showing a mother holding a ball which depicted our planet. The message went out loud and clear that Mother Earth is requesting us to take care of her.

Such themes and more form the idea behind the festival thus making the Goa Sand Art Festival a great occasion to be in.
