Goa Carnival 2012

Come to Goa, the queen of beaches in India, and the most famous getaway destination for innumerable people in this part of the world. Come to the loveliest romantic spot in town and the ideal tourist location in the entire world. Visit the land of the Goa Carnival. This is a festival which attracts most of the tourists and many people across the world. Originally begun in the year 1961, this is a festival that was a Portuguese venture and they turned the entire region into a carnival fare by influencing the lifestyle and culture of the people here. The Portuguese ruled Goa for around five centuries. Carnival comes from the Latin term which means to throw away meat. There is lot of singing, dancing and merrymaking here and normally people also have feast here.

Celebrated before Lent, Carnival is the augment of celebration after the forty days of Lent fasting. It is denoted for the time Jesus Christ is believed to have spent his days in wilderness. The Carnival originated after the people used to binge on meat after the Lent period was over. This necessitated the presence of a proper palace.

The Carnival here in Goa is the most fascinating and the most popular. There are carnivals at Margao, Mapusa, and Vasco etc. But the Goa Carnival takes the cake of travel pleasures. The festival is predominantly Christian but is totally enveloped by an air of harmony and merry making. Dominated totally by a lot of happiness and merry making, the Goa Carnival ambience sets the pulse racing for all festival lovers as they come to see the blend.
