Albertina: The Celebrated Art Museum of Vienna

Albertina is an art museum located at Vienna’s Innere Stadt or First District. This print room of this museum is rated among the largest and the most significant ones of this world. The print room houses around 1million old master print materials and 65,000 drawings. Other than that, the collection of the print room also includes several contemporary graphic works, architectural drawings and photographs.

The Monet to Picasso is one of the 2 permanent collections owned by the Albertina. Under this title, the museum showcases a vast collection of paintings belonging to the age of Modernism. This collection primarily contains works from Batliner Collection. The Monet of Picasso includes a wide range of art work ranging from German Expressionism to Fauvism and Impressionism. You will also come across the Russian and the Bauhaus avant-garde; and of course, as the name of the collection suggests the exhibits also include some of the best creations of Picasso. The other permanent collection of the Albertina is the Albertina Contemporary. The exhibits of this collection will present to you latest acquisitions of the museum from the world of Modern or Contemporary Art.

Albertina stays open from 10am to 6pm. The opening hours are different only for Wednesday; on Wednesday the museum stays open from 10am to 9pm. The restaurant housed by this museum opens daily at 9am and stays open till 12pm. The entry fee to Albertina differs according to the age and designation of the visitors. For adults, the ticket will cost €9.50; the senior citizens will need to pay €8 per head and students up to the age of 26 years have an entry fee of €7. You can enter Albertina absolutely free of cost, if you below the age of 19 years.
