Situated in southern India in the state of Karnataka, there is a wonderful adventure destination which is surely a top priority in the adventure tours in this part of the country. Fishing is the main outdoor pastime in this region. It is just not the “catch’ but also the “wait” that is equally exciting. One loves to participate in activities like bird watching, boat rides, trekking and river rafting. However somehow fishing remains the main outdoor activity here.  Cauvery River is home to the Mahseer Fish which is actually the finest fish in the entire world. With the freshwater fish known to be the hardest fighting fish species, Cauvery fishing camp actually has a lot of tourists from all over India and other countries.

AT Cauvery, you can find two kinds of Mahseer fishes – the Mussullah and the Tor Khudree. There are other fishes like the catfish and the carp. Here one also gets the thrill of spotting crocodiles.

Tourists coming here also take part in trekking activities. People like to take a break from fishing. Many also like to trek to the Basavanna Betta which is around 4000 feet high. Many of the forest tracks and the hilltops lead to lovely surroundings which really do a lot of good to the travel experience in this part of the world.

River rafting here is also another activity that most of the people coming here take part in. It is a great feeling to be ensconced by the surroundings of the lovely activities and be charmed by the most fascinating travel experiences.

How to reach

It is very easy to reach Cauvery with the nearest airport in Bangalore and the nearest railhead as Bangalore. Accommodation is also not a problem here so get ready and set out on this exciting escapade. To get ideal adventure experience go camping on a tent here and just bask in the pleasures of the loveliest memories.

It is also important to understand that you cannot just walk away with what you catch here. You can weigh it or even take a picture to show your friends later on. Because it is the catch and release phenomena that has to be adhered to. So this ensures that the priceless Mahseer doesn’t disappear altogether from the water.
